Raised in Pennsylvania, Andrew O'Donnell grew up with an immersion in medicine and science. Having a mother with a masters in gerontological nursing and a father with a PhD in Biochemistry, the motivation to pursue a career in the sciences was understandable, so naturally, he nurtured his love of the arts.
Entering an undergraduate art program at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pennsylvania, Andrew began his pursuit of the arts switching between the desire to create new and original works with an analytical and more precise way
of thinking. It wasn't until he took an 'Anatomy for Artists' course that he discovered Medical Illustration.
Having transfered to Penn State, Abington campus, Andrew was guided to Medical Illustration by a staff of professors and advisors that knew exactly how to point him
in the right direction. In 2012, he graduated Penn State Abington with a BA in Integrative Arts, a unique degree that allowed him to meld his drive to create art with the more niche topic of medicine and science. This program allowed him to seek further education at The Rochester Institute of Technology, becoming an MFA candidate in the College of Health Sciences and Technology with a degree in
